MEMBERS GALLERY CRITERIA
Thanks to all those who have sent in work for the Members Gallery. However it has come to light that we need to set a criteria for submission, while we do not wish to put people off, one of the aims of Scottish Photographers is to set a high visual standard and to emphasise (for the gallery) cohesive small bodies of work. We wish people to go beyond 'camera club' banality and mere technical exercises. We are not interested in how an image was created but what 'you' have created and carefully put together. We will be meeting to discuss a way forward with this in due course. |
John Blakemore - Bookmaking Workshop
Now Fully Booked - reserve list applies. |
FINALLY -
Due to a problems with retrieving changed passwords (two hours on the support line) by the old host server (Fasthosts) and changing over to a new server the SP site has been off-line for far to long. Our apologies and it's hoped that we won't have any future interruptions. |
NEW GALLERY SELECTION !! - at last
HOWEVER the new selection is quite something. It would be unfair to highlight any one individual but the work ranges from the harrowing documentary imagery of Chris Leslie through the story telling of Anne Crabbe to the colourful abstractions of Anne Thompson. Excellent all. |
SOURCE MAGAZINE
Issue 53 of Source magazine is just out and contains both excellent image making and articles. Of particular note in the latest issue is an interview with the excellent Hannah Collins. |
BLOGS
Initially Blogs were an outflow of an individuals viewpoint and helped create a community from like minded individuals. One of the problems now with Blogs is that they've fallen flat with a general lack of interesting content, their well of ideas having run dry. Or the Blogger develops 'digital narcissism' were they become self opinionated and righteous, spouting views that are unqualified and academically ignorant, revealing their narrow mindedness. The following seem to be maintaining a reasonably consistent viewpoint and show a genuine love of the medium, highlighting the work of little known photographers and who are generally open to ideas and thoughts.
