| Sandy is an independent photographer based in Motherwell. He is a founder member of Street Level Gallery in Glasgow and also of the RPS Contemporary Group. Having exhibited in a number of group shows as well as solo exhibitions in 1999 he was invited to photograph on the site of the former Ravenscraig steelworks. An exhibition of this work will be held in 2003. A wasteland is all that remains of Ravenscraig steelworks. Somehow the earth is enduring and a recolonisation of wildlife is taking place. For a brief period of time organic and inorganic have become one. In surreal acts of creation and decay plants mimic metal structures and unidentifiable pieces of fabric and machinery take on organic forms. | |
